POSITION SUMMARY:
To provide meals to each student with the highest nutritious quality in an atmosphere of cleanliness, cheerfulness, and personal caring. Ensure all guidelines are strictly adhered to with regards to the Department of Elementary & Secondary Education, USDA, Local Board of Health, State and Federal Procurement laws.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Demonstrated aptitude for successful performance of tasks listed.
Two (2) or more years of previous food service experience.
Minimum of two years experience in purchasing food and beverage.
SKILLS AND ABILITY:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. The candidate must have a thorough understanding of all aspects of high-volume batch cooking and possess knowledge of USDA reimbursable meals, as well as the “Offer vs. Serve” guidelines. Experience in purchasing is essential, along with familiarity with food service equipment and institutional meal preparation. The individual should demonstrate proficiency in computer use, specifically with the Google platform (including email, Sheets, and Docs), MUNIS accounting software, and other relevant applications. Additionally, the ability to establish and maintain organized office systems and procedures is crucial. Effective interpersonal skills are necessary for successful communication, both verbally and in writing, while maintaining confidentiality of information. The candidate should also have the capability to take notes and transcribe information accurately, work independently, and take the initiative to recommend and pursue pertinent projects. Lastly, they should be able to conduct research and produce comprehensive reports.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Responsible for assigning and training each person in the kitchen to a specific job in the meal preparation and serving process.
- Responsible for maintaining proper HACCP procedures.
- Prepares and completes all End of Day Reports, cash handling, and daily deposits
- Assists in food preparation as needed.
- Assists in the general operation of the program (POS computer, vending machines, washing dishes, washing tables, operating dish machine, serving students and staff during food distribution.
- Assists in the cleaning of the kitchen and cafeteria.
- Assists in putting stock away and inventory control.
- Completes a daily production control sheet indicating all items used in food production.
- Provides a list of all supplies needed, and places weekly orders.
- Utilizes “leftovers” in the best possible manner.
- Performs duties of other cafeteria workers as necessary or assigned by the Director of Food Service
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Employees work in an office with moderate noise levels (such as computers and printers) and controlled temperature conditions. The position requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms occasionally. Ability to talk and to hear continuously. Ability to lift up to 60 pounds periodically. Finger dexterity is required continuously for the normal work shift, such as for typing, filing, dialing the phone, etc. Some travel between schools may be necessary, so operating a motor vehicle and maintaining a valid Driver’s license is required; The employee is required to work indoors. The regular chemical solvents used are cleaning fluids. The occupant will be exposed to extreme heat /cold conditions. The occupant is expected to wear vinyl gloves and proper hair restraints when working with food. The employee is expected to follow the uniform policy.

This position is classified as exempt.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Covered under the Framingham School Committee contract.
