Out of School Time Coordinator

Blocks Pre-School

 

POSITION SUMMARY 

The Out of School Time (OST) Program Coordinator is responsible for the oversight of programs and operations onsite at BLOCKS Preschool. The primary focus of this position is: the development, implementation, and coordination of Out of School programs; staff supervision and development; administration and budget management; and family and school engagement.

 

Before School program runs from 7 am to the beginning of the Framingham Public School day and After School Programming runs from FPS dismissal to 5:30 pm. Programming also includes Early Release Days and Half Days, Vacation Programming (December, February, & April), and Summer Programming.

 

Through a collaborative effort with the FPS’ Department of Community Resource Development, School leadership, Parent/Teacher Organizations, and parent and student input, the Coordinator will help develop a high-quality OST program experience that complements and models students' learning throughout the school day. With a strong focus on Project Based Learning, STEM, Service Learning, Entrepreneurial programming, and Clubs, our goal is to create an OST experience that develops a student’s positive sense of self, helps build transferable skills, and generates excitement for learning.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: 

Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant background or in pursuit of one, masters preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITY:

  • Bilingual candidates are strongly preferred.
  • Experience in the early education field, preferably as supervisor/coordinator/administrator.
  • Three years or more experience coordinating After-School programming with students from diverse cultural/ethnic backgrounds.
  • Ability to supervise and support a team of up to ten staff members and additional community partners.
  • Ability to multitask and coordinate daily activities including student attendance, tuition collection and management, and parent communication
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication skills to collaborate with school day teachers, school staff, parents/guardians, the community, institutions of higher education, business leaders, and administrative staff.
  • Strong program planning skills to ensure educational frameworks are embedded in enrichment activities.
  • Sensitivity to and/or experience in working with children and adults from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated experience with working with youths and the establishment of strong rapport with youths.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer use and appropriate applications, including MS Office and databases.
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong ability to maintain the confidentiality of information.
  • Flexible, timely, ability to multitask, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct a comprehensive secondary education program aimed at preparing every student for success.  
  • Ability to lead improvement efforts toward identified instructional targets by motivating and mentoring building-level administrators and facilitating systemic change strategies, with an emphasis on progressive educational practices.
  • Commitment to equity in educational opportunities for students and leadership opportunities for staff, especially with regard to members of traditionally underserved and underrepresented groups.
  • Strong knowledge of best practices in curriculum and instruction, program evaluation, leadership development, school improvement, budget management, and data analysis. Demonstrated knowledge of state/federal regulations and accreditation requirements governing public education programs.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

At least five years of experience as a classroom teacher; some experience in leadership is strongly preferred.  Demonstrated knowledge and application of effective secondary education principles, practices, and trends. Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum, best practices in instruction and assessment, school operations and management, and leadership development. Demonstrated record of success in leading strategic educational initiatives that resulted in measurable improvements in student achievement. In-depth experience in the systemic implementation of progressive instructional practices.

  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate overall programs, services, and activities to ensure they meet state objectives and the needs and interests of students.
  • Manage program budget.
  • Hire and supervise staff.
  • Track and submit voucher processes.
  • Manage program registration and tracking.
  • Ensure and enforce compliance with district policies and procedures for all staff.
  • Manage and provide staff development opportunities for staff and volunteers.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings and professional development.
  • Ensure a productive work environment
  • Develop partnerships with parents, community leaders and organizations.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor. 

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

The other time is primarily sedentary, performed in an office setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands; fingers; to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.  The employee is occasionally required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision and close vision such as reading the typewritten material. The work typically requires occasional in-district travel to attend meetings.

Manager of Elementary Out of School Time Programs 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists in the supervision and evaluation of out-of-school program staff.

 

FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT (FLSA) CLASSIFICATION:

This position is classified as Exempt (Professional).

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Covered under Framingham School Committee Policy. Twelve-Month position (35 hours per week)

$48,000-$54,000 with benefits
